Stick Brands

When it comes to buy yourself a hockey stick, the number of stick brands available offers you a wide choice in quality and price. Leaders in this crowded field include Easton, Bauer/Nike, CCM, Sherwood, Louisville TPS, Mission, Warrior, Koho and Titan. Others are Nike, Reebok, Flarrow, Montreal, Kitchener, TPS-Louisville, Christian Brothers, Trilage, Salming, Busch, Falcon, Ferkland, Flite, Harrow, Innovative, Tour, Rebellion and Ballistik.

Before you select a stick, investigate. Ask yourself, what type of stick is right for you? Next, study each company and their product before making a decision. Make sure you have the correct information before you buy a hockey stick.

Remember, there are two types of hockey stick: composite and wood. Most of the companies offer a selection of both as well as stick blades and shafts. Many also manufacture goalie sticks. Brian’s, Eddy, Gould, Heaton, Maltese and Vaughn produce a line of goalie sticks and other goalie equipment.

Another decision you may make concerns both price and source. Do you want to buy an “off-the-rack” stick or one customized? Several companies, including Black Beauty, produce custom-made hockey sticks. Many of the larger companies also provide this service to customers upon request.

Many brands are known for their quality. Easton sticks are highly regarded. They introduced the first aluminum stick. Sherwood (or Sher-wood) has been producing quality sticks since 1949. There wooden hockey stick is one of the very best on the market. It is more expensive than most wooden sticks, but the quality and durability are worth spending the extra money. CCM produces the one-piece CCM Vector hockey sticks- one of the most durable within the composite family. The CCM brand of hockey sticks also offers improved balance over many other composite sticks. Some say CM produces the best sticks in the market.

Others, however, prefer Mission hockey sticks. Mission is a brand always trying to remain a step or two ahead of their competition. Their Synergy series is renowned for its slap shot capabilities and the extra control it gives its handler. Do not ignore the newer brands. Companies, such as Flarrow – once manufacturers for Bauer, are working hard at establishing their reputation in the market.

As you can see, there is a lot of choice out there. Do your homework. Ask around. Try out various sticks your friends use. Look at prices. A quality stick does not have to cost the earth. Decide what stick-type is best for you then go purchase the brand and stick of your choice.
